MIXED MEDIA – Combining materials is very liberating and exciting. Most of these entries combine graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and cold wax. “Burch Street at Its Best” is a wonderful lane in Taos, New Mexico leading to the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation and it’s Artist Residency Program where I spent three months in 2011 as a visual arts resident. “Taos Glen” was inspired by my stay at the Wurlitzer  in 2011, and combines charcoal, Ceracolor (water–soluble wax paint) and cold wax.  “Ghost Ranch Desert” and “Ghost Ranch Summer” investigate the dramatic and exciting colors of New Mexico’s High Desert at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, New Mexico.
